Chairs witness our celebrations, conversations, conflicts, and solitude. They hold places at family tables, line waiting rooms, gather communities, and sit empty after someone has gone.  By presenting chairs in place of people, I invite viewers to project themselves into these scenes and consider the universal emotions they evoke. In their familiarity, these objects become portraits, not of specific individuals, but of our shared humanity.
