Rebuilding the world piece by piece

What am I in this world to do?

I was four years old when President Kennedy was assassinated. I remember my mother turning off the vacuum cleaner, sitting down to listen to the breaking news that interrupted my afternoon cartoons, and quietly beginning to cry. It was my first awareness that the world could be heartbreaking.

In the decades since, I have watched fear, division, and greed become increasingly visible. Yet I have also come to understand something equally true. The world is filled with extraordinary beauty, kindness, generosity, and hope. Both realities exist at once.

I have chosen to spend my life looking for the latter.

My work is an act of paying attention. It is a deliberate search for the quiet moments that remind us who we are at our best. I make art to celebrate the goodness that exists all around us, not because I wish to ignore suffering, but because beauty gives us the strength to face it. Every day offers countless moments of grace if we learn to notice them.

I hope to remind others through my work of what I constantly need to remember myself: This world is still worth loving.
